Meet the Team

Alisha Camacho
Alisha Camacho
Director & Producer

Alisha Camacho is the director, producer, and primary filmmaker of Anacostia Unplugged. Her work as an environmental educator within the District is what inspired her to write her senior thesis on the transformative effects that exposure to nature can have to entire communities; specifically telling the stories of the overlooked communities along the Anacostia River. Now an aspiring filmmaker, Alisha is excited to launch Anacostia Unplugged as a free, accessible, and educational online documentary series. To date, she is still working as an environmental educator with the Dumbarton Oaks Park Conservancy in Washington, DC.

groundworks
Groundwork Anacostia
Fiscal Sponor

Groundwork Anacostia is a non-profit organization located in Ward 7 of Washington, DC, committed to community development along the Anacostia Watershed through environmental restoration and education. As the official fiscal sponsor of Anacostia Unplugged, we receive and administer all funds that Anacostia Unplugged will use to carry out the documentary series, and will send all required acknowledgements to donors of tax-deductible contributions. The Board of Directors of Groundwork Anacostia has the final authority concerning fund solicitation and use of the funds received for Anacostia Unplugged. Groundwork Anacostia supports the mission of Anacostia Unplugged because the documentary series will continue the critical conservation about some of the more controversial environmental and social issues that have occurred along the Anacostia River, while addressing the disconnection our youth and culture experience with nature.

ECC
The Earth Conservation Corps
Editing Team

The Earth Conservation Corps Leaders Team documents the organization's environmental action program dedicated to transforming the Anacostia River into a River of Hope. Our ECC Corps Leaders Team serves as environmental stewards to ensure that all visitors to our organization have an educated briefing on the eco system along the Anacostia River. We support the documentary series Anacostia Unplugged because together, we will spark community pride and a renewed sense of purpose in regions where youth can easily be disconnected from nature.
